Ashleigh Buhai made six birdies and a bogey on Friday in the second round of the LPGA Tour’s HSBC Women’s World Championship in Thailand to move into a share of fifth at the halfway stage.
She dropped the only shot of her round on the par-four third, and, after that, she didn’t drop another, picking up birdies in pairs on five and six, eight and nine, and 13 and 14. At eight-under for the tournament, she was just two strokes off the lead which was held by Danielle Kang of the United States. Kang was one clear of first-round leader, America’s Elizabeth Szokol, as well as Allisen Corpuz of the United States and Hyo Joo Kim of South Korea. Buhai shared fifth with Sweden’s Linn Grant and former world number one Nelly Korda.
Paula Reto had a better second round, carding two-over 74 to move to seven-over for the tournament down in 65th place.
