Ashleigh Buhai came storming back on Saturday in the third round of the LPGA Tour’s Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions at Lake Nona Golf & Country Club as she signed for a five-under-par 67.
It was a bogey-free effort from the reigning Women’s Open champion, and it took her to five-under for the tournament and a share of 11th. The lead was held, as it has been throughout, by Canada’s Brooke Henderson, at 14-under, after her third round of three-under-par 69. In second on 11-under were Nelly Korda of the United States and Japan’s Nasa Hataoka.
The other South African in the 29-player field made up entirely of LPGA Tour winners from 2022 is Paula Reto. She, too, like Buhai, had a five-under 67, in a round laced with seven birdies and two bogeys. She was in a share of sixth on six-under through 54 holes.
