Ashleigh Buhai stumbled to a share of 13th on Sunday as she carded a closing two-over-par 74 in the LPGA Tour’s BMW Ladies Championship at Seowon Valley Country Club in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea.
A rusty Buhai – who has been out of action for nearly six weeks as she rested a recurring back problem – started the final round well from the top of the leaderboard with a birdie on the second. But she dropped a shot on the third, before getting things back on track with a birdie on the eighth. But three bogeys in a row from the 12th, followed by another on the 16th, sank her challenge for what would have been a second title of the year on the LPGA Tour. She birdied 17, but it was not enough to get back in touch with the lead.
The tournament was won by Australia’s Minjee Lee, who carded a closing 68 to end on 16-under, level with Alison Lee of the United States. The Australian pulled off her second play-off win of the season, making birdie on the first extra hole after the American had missed her birdie attempt from about 12 feet.
