Dean Burmester was unable to get going on Saturday in the final round of the Asian Tour’s PIF Saudi International, but his level-par 71 was good enough to give him third place.

Burmester was in a share of the lead ahead of the final round, and he started the final round well with a birdie on the second hole. But he was unable to pick up another shot for the next eight holes. After that, he made his first bogey on the 11th, and he quickly dropped another on the 13th. He made another birdie on the 17th, and that was the extent of his scoring for the final round.

It was not enough for him to stay on front, and, the man with whom he shared the 54-hole lead, Caleb Surratt of the United States, was also unable to hold on to the lead with his two-under-par 69 which included three bogeys.

Instead, Spain’s Josele Ballester went bogey-free on his way to a closing six-under-par 65 to move to 22-under-par and a three-stroke win over Surratt. Burmester was a further two shots back in third on 17-under.

Branden Grace closed strongly with a five-under-par 66 to move to 14-under and a share of fifth. Jaco Ahlers was on 12-under after his three-under 68 took him to a share of 16th, while Louis Oosthuizen had a one-under 70 to finish on eight-under in a share of 42nd.

Despite closing with a four-over-par 75, Zimbabwe’s Scott Vincent managed to finish in a share of 42nd. That was enough to seem him stay at the top of the Asian Tour’s International Series Rankings. That means he will be heading back to LIV Golf for the 2025 season, together with Japan’s Yosuke Asaji.
