Despite a triple-bogey eight on the 16th on Wednesday, Estiaan Conradie did enough to hold on for a one-stroke win in the Bushveld Tour’s Bushveld Series #1 at Serengeti Country Estate.

Conradie had a two-stroke lead heading into the final round after a five-under on the Whistling Thorn Par-Three course in the second round, and he set himself up for a cruise home with a five-under-par 31 on the front nine in the final round.

He made birdies on three, five and nine, and picked up an eagle on the eighth to move to 13-under and a lead that was pretty formidable. It was just as well, because in addition to the triple-bogey, Conradie dropped shots on the 10th and 12th, without picking up any shots on the homeward nine.

In the end, he had done enough to hold off the charge from Stals Swart, who carded a four-under-par 68 but still fell one stroke short at seven-under of forcing a play-off.

Graham van der Merwe was third on five-under after carding a closing one-over 73. Jono Broomhead was fourth after a 69 left him on three-under, and Eric Wowor and Kian Coetzer shared fifth on one-under after Wowor signed for a 67.
