Conradie’s 5-under on par-3 course lifts him to Bushveld Series #1 lead

After the second round played on Serengeti’s Whistling Thorn Par-Three course on Tuesday, Estiaan Conradie held a two-shot lead at the top of the leaderboard of the Bushveld Tour’s Bushveld Series #1.

Conradie produced a superb five-under-par total of 49 to move to eight-under for the 36 holes. That was two shots clear of Graham van der Merwe, who had a three-under 51. Stals Swart and Kian Coetzer were on three-under in a share of third after rounds of one-under and three-under respectively.

Conradie picked up three birdies on the front nine to turn n three-under 24, and he made another gain on the 12th. He dropped his only shot of the day on the 13th, but he picked up two more birdies on the final two holes, the 17th and the 18th.

James Pennington of Eswatini was in fifth on two-under ahead of the final round on the main course after he signed for a two-under on the par-three course, and Jono Broomhead was on one-under in sixth after his one-under in the second round.

First round leader Gerhard Trytsman slumped to a six-over on Whistling Thorn and slid down to a share of ninth on two over.
