Daniel Cronje’s four-under-par 68 took him to a five-stroke victory on Wednesday in the Bushveld Tour’s Race to Q-School Series #1 at The Els Club Copperleaf.
Cronje led after the first round, but he trailed Oliver Goldhill by three after the second round. In the end, Goldhill’s final round of four-over-par 76 made Cronje’s work a little easier and left the 36-hole leader in second place on his own.
Cronje made four birdies and two bogeys on his front nine in the final round, and still managed to erase Goldhill’s lead as Goldhill made a birdie, a bogey and a double-bogey to turn in two-over 38. It was a similar tally to his front none for Cronje on his way home with four birdies and two bogeys, while Goldhill made a solitary birdie and three bogeys.
In a share of third place on five-under, two behind Goldhill, were Travis Ladner and Tristan Leonard, who had rounds of 68 and 70 respectively. Louis Libenberg was fifth on four-under after he signed for a closing two-over-par 74.
