Adilson Da Silva opened the Legends Tour’s Irish Legends at Seapoint Golf Links in County Louth of Friday with a one-under-par 71.
Da Silva, the Brazilian who plays out of Ballito in KwaZulu-Natal and has won 12 times on the Sunshine Tour, made two birdies and a bogey to be in a share of eighth. He was five strokes behind the leader, Peter Baker of England. Baker was one clear of countryman Gary Wolstenholme and New Zealand’s Michael Campbell, the 2005 US Open champion.
Chris Williams of South Africa carded a level-par 72 to be in a share of 12th, while Keith Horne was one-over in a share of 21st. James Kingston battled his way to a seven-over-par 79, and was near the bottom of the leaderboard in a share of 57th in the 60-man field.
