Adilson Da Silva finished in a share of fourth on Sunday as he carded a closing three-under-par 73 in the Legends Tour’s Farmfoods European Senior Masters at La Manga Club in Cartagena, Spain.

Two-time winner this season Da Silva had four birdies and one dropped shot in his 70, as he took another step towards topping the season-long Order of Merit with just two events remaining. The South African-based Brazilian has finished second on the MCB Road to Mauritius the last two years.

His closing three-under followed a brilliant second round where he carded an eight-under-par 65, including a run of five consecutive birdies on the front nine. Scoring was a little tougher on the final day, and he finished the week on 13-under-par, four strokes behind the winner, Simon Griffiths of England.

With Da Silva in a share of fourth was South African Keigh Horne, who closed with a four-under 69 as he moved to ninth on the MCB Road to Mauritius rankings.

It was a quiet tournament for James Kingston, who had a closing one-under-par 72 as he finished in a share of 30th on four-under-par. He is 16th in the rankings.

The win capped a superb run of form for Griffiths as he’d only finished outside the top eight once in his previous six events and secured his best result of the season prior to this week with a tied-third at the Sergio Melpignano Senior Italian Open in his previous start. The victory took him to 10th on the MCB Road to Mauritius.
