Adlison Da Silva kept himself in the hunt on Friday with a second-round one-under-par 71 in the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship at Fields Ranch East at PGA Frisco in Frisco, Texas.

He moved to six-under for the major championship, in a share of fifth. But he finds himself six shots off the lead which was held in dominant fashion as Padraig Harrington added a four-under-par 68 to his opening 64. That took the Irishman to 12-under through 36 holes and a three-stroke lead over Katsumasa Miyamoto of Japan. Stewart Cink was third on eight-under and Steve Stricker was fourth on seven-under.

Da Silva made five birdies and four bogeys in his second round, and he shared fifth with Darren Clark, YE Yang and Alex Cjeka.

“Just one shot here and one shot there and the course just grabs you really quickly, you don’t know what hit you,” said Da Silva of his second round. “Also with the wind up there it was quite tricky to get right club. I was really happy with the score that I had today.”

Retief Goosen had a good second round, his four-under-par 68 lifting him to four-under for the championship and a share of 12th. James Kingston had a one-over 73, and, at one-over through 36, was in a share of 39th, and Ernie Els’ three-over 75 saw him slip to two-over and a share of 56th.
