An opening 65 on Thursday in the suspended first round of the Korn Ferry Tour’s NV5 Invitational at the Glen Club in Glenview, Illinois gave MJ Daffue a share of eighth with the first round due to resume early on Friday morning.
With some players having completed just 15 holes, there was on through 17 and one through 15 who were also on six-under 65 who could climb above Daffue, who made six birdies and didn’t drop a shot in his opening round.
The lead was held by American Davis Chatfield, who had a bogey-free nine-under-par 62 to lead by one from countrymen Cooper Dossey and Caleb VanArragon.
Barend Botha was on four-under-par through 17 holes when play was suspended, and Christo Lamprecht had completed his round in one-under 70.
It was the second stoppage of the day with dangerous weather pausing play at 2:32 pm local time and resuming at 4:30 pm after a one hour and 58 minute delay.
Chatfield made six birdies in his opening nine holes (10, 11, 12, 13, 17, 18) for a six-under 29, and rolled in three more birdies on his second nine (at one, two and four) for a career-best nine-under 62
