He carded the joint low round of the day on Sunday, and MJ Daffue’s seven-under-par 65 propelled him into a share of sixth place in the Korn Ferry Tour’s The Ascendant presented by Blue in Colorado.

Daffue had an eagle, eight birdies, a bogey and a double-bogey as he climbed 11 places on the leaderboard to finish on 14-under-par for the tournament. That put him three shots behind the winner Zecheng Dou of China, who carded a five-under 67 to hold off compatriot Carl Yuan, who also had a 67, by one stroke.

Daffue made birdies on three, five and seven, before making his double on the eighth, where found water off the tee on the par-three. He birdied nine to round off an eventful stretch ahead of the turn. There were birdies on 12 and 13, before he reached the green in two on the par-five 14th and made the putt for eagle. He closed out his strong finish with birdies on 16 and 18.

His performance left him at fifth on the Korn Ferry Tour, and all but assured of winning his PGA Tour card at the end of the season which has six more tournaments ahead of the closing Tour Championship on September 1.
