He backed up a low round with another good one on Friday, and MJ Daffue carded a three-under-par 67 to go with his opening 63 as he climbed into second place in the Korn Ferry Tour’s Astara Golf Championship at Country Club de Bogota’s Pacos course.
Daffue made eight birdies, two bogeys and a double in his second round, and, at 11-under-par through 36 holes, he’s just one off the pace which was being set by Ben Griffin of the United States. Griffin was just clear of Daffue and Ryan McCormick.
Daffue had an adventurous homeward nine, with four birdies, two bogeys and a double-bogey on the par-four 16th. But four birdies with no dropped shots on the front nine kept his scoring on the right side of par, and put him in with a shout of going for the win over the weekend.
He will have work to do if he is to catch the leader: In just his 13th career Korn Ferry Tour start since turning professional in 2018, and less than a year after stepping away from golf to work as a loan officer, Griffin carded a nine-under 61 to take the lead.
