MJ Daffue closed with a four-under-par 68 on Sunday to climb to a share of 24th in the PGA Tour’s Rocket Mortgage Classic at Detroit Golf Club.
That six-place climb up the leaderboard saw him move to 14-under-par for the tournament, 10 strokes behind the three-way play-off which gave Rickie Fowler his first PGA Tour win since 2019, and his sixth title on that circuit. Fowler beat Canada’s Adam Hadwin and countryman Collin Morikawa on the first extra hole of the play-off by making birdie on the 18th for the second time on the day.
Daffue had an early bogey in his final round, on the second, but he made four birdies on the front nine to turn in three-under. He picked up two more shots with birdies on the 14th and 17th, and dropped one more shot with a bogey on the 16th.
Garrick Higgo also closed strongly with a four-under-par 68 lifting him to a share of 33rd on 12-under for the tournament. Christiaan Bezuidenhout got in on the 68 act with a four-under finish of his own to finish on nine-under in a share of 56th.
