Already assured of his PGA Tour card for next season, MJ Daffue opened the Korn Ferry Tour’s Pinnacle Bank Championship with a four-under-par 67 on Thursday to be in a share of fifth after the first round in Omaha, Nebraska.
Daffue started his round on the 10th, and had birdies on 11 and 15 to turn in two-under 33. He birdied two, bogeyed three and eagled four in an eventful stretch, and finished just two strokes out of the lead which was held by Philip Knowles of the United States. Knowles led by one from Robby Shelton, Andrew Yun and Taylor Montgomery of the United States.
Daffue shared fifth with eight other players.
His eagle came with a hole-out approach from short of the green on the 576-yard par-five fourth.
