He had an eagle, seven birdies, a bogey and a double-bogey on his card on Thursday in the first round of the PGA Tour’s Rocket Mortgage Classic at Detroit Golf Club in Michigan for a six-under-par 66 and a share of 10th place.
He was three shots off the lead which was held by Peter Kuest and Taylor Moore of the United States. They each had eight-under-par 68, and they led by one from seven players, including Dylan Wu of the United States, who had an albatross, an eagle, five birdies, and three bogeys on his card.
Dylan Frittelli, Garrick Higgo and Christiaan Bezuidenhout opened with one-under-par 71 for a share of 83rd, while Erik van Rooyen was in a share of 107th on level-par.
