MJ Daffue finished strongly on Sunday with a four-under-par 66 taking him to a share of 21st in the PGA Tour’s Honda Classic at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens Florida.

Daffue made an eagle, four birdies and two bogeys as he moved to five-under for the tournament. That put him nine strokes behind the winner, Chris Kirk, who beat his fellow-American Eric Cole on the first hole of a sudden-death play-off with a birdie on the 18th. They were one stroke clear of Tyler Duncan in third. Ryan Gerard was fourth, and Ben Martin, Sepp Straka, Ben Taylor, Justin Suh and Shane Lowry shared fifth on nine-under.

Daffue’s eagle came on the third hole, immediately after he had made his first bogey on the second, when he chipped in from just short of the green. He birdied the next hole, bogeyed the fifth, and then made three birdies on his homeward nine.

Dylan Frittelli and Garrick Higgo were in a share of 29th on three-under-par after closing rounds of 69 and 70 respectively. Christiaan Bezuidenhout had a two-over 72 in the final round and, at two-under, was in a share of 42nd.
