He followed up his superb opening round with a two-under-par 69 on Thursday, and MJ Daffue will go into the final two rounds of the Korn Ferry Tour’s Veritex Bank Championship in Arlington, Texas, in a share of fourth place.

Although he wasn’t able to reproduce the superb scoring of the first round when he had a bogey-free card, he overcame a triple bogey and a bogey with an eagle and four birdies to move to 11-under for the tournament. That put him three shots off the lead held at 14-under by Shawn Stefani of the United States. American Chase Parker and Byeong Hun An of South Korea were in second and third one and two shots back respectively.

Dawie van der Walt, the other South African in the field, missed the cut after a second-round one-under-par 70 left him on four-under for the tournament. The cut was on five-under.
