Louis de Jager made an eagle on the fourth hole on Friday on his way to a second-round one-under-par 70 in the DP World Tour’s acciona Open de España presented by Madrid at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid in Madrid.
With his halfway total of two-under-par, he was in a share of 14th, down two places from his share of 12th in the first round. On a course where scoring is generally tough, the lead is a somewhat surprising 10-under-par, held by Spaniard Angel Hidalgo, who had a second round of four-under-par 67. Hidalgo led by four from England’s Joe Dean, and there were five players on five-under in a share of third, including Spain’s Jon Rahm.
Jacques Kruyswijk had a two-under 69 in the second round to move to one-over for a share of 46th with, amongst others, Jayden Schaper who had a three-under 68. Dylan Frittelli was on two-over in a share of 57th after a second round of one-over 72.
Thomas Aiken, Dylan Mostert, George Coetzee, Jaco Prinsloo, Oliver Bekker, Pieter Moolman, Darren Fichardt and Casey Jarvis all missed the cut.
