Louis de Jager carded a five-under-par 66 on Thursday to take a share of fifth after the first round of the DP World Tour’s Cazoo Open de France at Le Golf National in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, France.
De Jager made three birdies on the front nine, and then two more immediately after the turn. Bur he dropped a shot on the 12th, and another on the 15th. There were two more birdies, however, and he ended the day two strokes off the lead which was held by Korea’s Tom Kim. Kim made one birdie on his opening nine after teeing off on the 10th, and then six birdies without dropping a shot on his homeward nine.
Kim led by one from Englishmen Richard Mansell and Matthew Southgate and Spain’s Alfred Garcia-Heredia. De Jager shared fifth with 10 other players.
Zander Lombard was a shot further back on four-under-par in a share of 16th and Hennie du Plessis was on three-under in a share of 27th. South African Open champion Thriston Lawrence was on one-under in a share of 58th together with Bryce Easton.
Jayden Schaper had a three-over 74 as did Wilco Nienaber and Thomas Aiken and they were in a share of 116th. Tristen Strydom was on four-over and JC Ritchie on six-over.
