Jordan Duminy led the way with a seven-under-par 65 on the Montagu Course at Fancourt on Tuesday as 10 players punched their tickets to one of the most sought-after tournaments on the Sunshine Tour, the NTT Data Pro-Am.
There were 63 players trying to get in to the 240-man field that plays on all three courses at Fancourt – Montagu, Outeniqua and The Links – for the first three rounds before the final round plays off over Montagu, and Duminy and Tyran Snyders topped the leaderboard with their 65s.
Brandon Meads of England and South Africans Travis Ladner and Jean Paul Strydom were on six-under. Ethan Smith, Keegan McLachlan, Werner Deyzel and Doug McGuigan all carded five-under-par to also make it into the main event.
Rourke van der Spuy won a seven-man play-off for the final spot after signing for a four-under-par 68. The unlucky losers were Grahame van der Merwe, Stals Swart, Colin Nel, Stuart Krog of Zimbabwe, Altin van der Merwe and Jake Redman.
The main tournament tees off on Thursday.
