In the end, Bryce Easton’s final round of two-under-par 69 on Sunday was not enough to extend his season on the Challenge Tour as he finished in a share of 14th in the Hangzhou Open at Hangzhou West Lake Golf Club in China.
The Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final supported by the R&A at Club de Golf Alcanada in Mallorca on October 31 feature the top 45 players on the Road to Mallorca rankings, and Easton will finish 72nd. That means he will be unable to challenge for his DP World Tour card.
He made four birdies and two bogeys to move to 10-under-par for the tournament. That put him eight strokes behind the winner, Conor Purcell of Ireland. Purcell closed with a four-under 67 to win by four from Angel Ayora of Spain, Jack Senior of England and Finland’s Oliver Lindell.
Justin Walters will also miss out in Mallorca, remaining in 47th place on the rankings after his closing one-over 72 left him on four-under for the tournament in a share of 34th.
Deon Germishuys will play in the Grand Final, despite dropping to 14th on the rankings after he finished in a share of 41st on three-under. It will take just a solid showing in Mallorca for him to earn his DP World Tour card.
Like Walters, Ritchie let his chance to play in the Grand Final slip as he dropped three places on the rankings to 48th after his closing on-under 70 left him in a share of 50th on two-under.
