Els climbs into share of 3rd after 2nd round in Trophy Hasan II

Ernie Els made five birdies on Friday in the second round of the PGA Tour Champions Trophy Hassan II at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam in Rabat, Morocco on his way to a two-under-par 71 and a share of third place.

Els birdied the first hole, but immediately dropped two shots on the second and the third. He got those two shots back with birdies on five and eight. He picked up two more shots on 12 and 17, with another bogey on the 13th.

He climbed 10 spots on the leaderboard into a share of third on five-under with four other players. Up front, the prolific Kiwi Steven Alker carded a three-under 70 to move to seven-under for the tournament with one round to go. The Spaniard Miguel Angel Jimenez had a four-under 69 to be on six-under in second place.

One shot behind Els was Adilson Da Silva after his second round of level-par 73.

Retief Goosen continued to struggle, and his four-over 77 left him on 11-over in a share of 60th.
