Ernie Els maintained his position at the top of the PGA Tour Champions standings on Sunday with a closing three-under-par 69 giving him a share of 20th in the Dominion Energy Charity Classic in Richmond, Virginia.
Els tops the Charles Schwab Cup standings with just one tournament remaining before the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship, and rounds of 71-72-69 has him still at number one. His four-under-par 54-hole total saw him finish on four-under-par for the tournament.
That put Els nine strokes behind the winner, Tim O’Neal, who won his first title on the tour by two strokes from Argentina’s Ricardo Gonzalez with his closing seven-under-par 65 taking him to 13-under for the week.
Retief Goosen, who opened with an eight-under-par 64 to lead the first round, finished with a four-over-par 76 and was in a share of 26th on three-under for the tournament.
