Ernie Els finished in a share of third on Sunday after he closed out his tournament with a four-under-par 68 in the PGA Tour Champions SAS Championship at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary, North Carolina.

It was a weather-affected weekend, with the second round of the 54-hole event having to be completed on Sunday morning ahead of the third and final round, and Els climbed six places in that final round with five birdies and a bogey.

At 11-under for the tournament, he was four strokes behind the winner, Rod Pampling of Australia. Pampling closed with a five-under 67 to win by two from Steven Alker of New Zealand. Els shared third with Mario Tiziani of the United States, two shots behind Alker.

Another two shots back was Retief Goosen in a share of fifth on nine-under after he signed off with a one-under-par 71.
