Ernie Els made seven birdies on Sunday on his way to a closing six-under-par 66 which gave him a share of third in the PGA Tour Champions’ Boeing Classic at The Club at Snoqualmie Ridge in Snoqualmie, Washington.
His closing round flourish, which included a bogey on the par-five 15th, was topped only by the 65 carded by Australia’s Steve Allan, who reached 15-under-par for the tournament to record a one-stroke win over Stewart Cink of the United States. Els was on 13-under to share third with Northern Ireland’s Darren Clarke.
Els and Clarke both had 66s, and Els recorded his ninth top-10 finish of the season in 17 starts. It was Clarke’s fourth top-10 in 15 starts.
Keith Horne closed with a two-under-par 70 to finish in a share of 37th on two-under for the tournament.
Allan made a five-foot birdie putt on the par-five 18th, then waited to see if Cink could catch him. A stroke behind going into the final hole, Cink left a greenside bunker shot on the lip and made a par for a 70. The 51-year-old Allan finished at 15-under 201. He won The Galleri Classic at Mission Hills in the California desert in March and the DICK’S Open last month in Endicott, New York.
