Ernie Els moved into the top 10 on Saturday with a second round of three-under-par 69 in the PGA Tour Champions Boeing Classic at The Club at Snoqualmie Ridge in Snoqualmie, Washington.

Els, who opened with a four-under-par 68 to be in 11th place, climbed four spots into a share of seventh on seven-under-par ahead of the final round. He was five strokes off the lead which was held at 12-under by Stewart Cink after the American signed for an eight-under 64 to climb 10 places to the top of the leaderboard.

Cink was three strokes clear of Stevn Alker of New Zealand and fellow-American Paul Goydos. There were three players on eight-under in a share of fourth, and Els shared seventh with three other players, including fellow-major champion Darren Clarke of Northern Ireland.

Els made four birdies, and dropped just a single shot when he made bogey on the 16th.

Keith Horne was the other South African in the field, and he had his second consecutive level-par 72 to also climb four places on the leaderboard into a share of 44th.
