Deon Germishuys finished with a flourish on Sunday when he signed off from the Challenge Tour’s Open de Portugal at Royal Óbidos Spa & Golf Resort in Portugal with a six-under-par 65.
His seven birdies and a bogey saw him jump 22 places on the leaderboard as he finished in a share of third on nine-under-par for the tournament. That put him three shots off the summit, which was attained by American Matt Oshrine. Oshrine made just his sixth cut this season on his way to his maiden victory. He was one shot clear of Stefano Mazzoli of Italy, and Tapio Pulkkanen of Finland and Swede Niklas Lemke shared third with Germishuys.
One shot behind Germishuys was Robin Williams, who made a triple-bogey eight on the last to tumble out of contention for a shot at victory. He eventually finished in a share of sixth on eight-under after making four birdies and two bogeys before his final-hole meltdown.
Rounding out a solid week was JC Ritchie who had a one-under 70 in his final round to finish in 15th on six-under-par.
Wilco Nienaber finished with a one-over-par 72 to be in a share of 49th on level-par.
