Fast-finishing Lawrence grabs share of 3rd in DP World India Championship

Thriston Lawrence recorded the joint-best round of the day on Sunday, with his seven-under-par 65 securing him a share of third in the DP World India Championship at Delhi Golf Club in New Delhi.

Winner Tommy Fleetwood matched that final round, as did Dutchman Joost Luiten and France’s Tom Vaillant. Fleetwood’s round took him to 22-under for the tournament and a two-stroke win over 54-hole leader Keita Nakajima of Japan. Lawrence shared third on 18-under-par with Alex Fitzpatrick of England and Ireland’s Shane Lowry.

Lawrence made three birdies and a bogey on the front nine, and he pushed really hard on the way home. He dropped a shot on the 11th, and then made two birdies, and eagle, and two more birdies in the next five holes.

Jayden Schaper also finished strongly, and, having moved into the top 10 after the third round, finished in a share of sixth with Luiten and Viktor Hovland of Norway. Schaper closed with a six-under-par 66.

Casey Jarvis also had a closing 66 to finish in a share of 17th on 12-under-par for the tournament, doing his chances of holding on to his DP World Tour card a power of good after an ordinary season. He climbed to 95th on the Race to Dubai rankings.

Zander Lombard was in a share of 32nd after his closing level-par 72, and Robin Williams’ two-under 70th lifted him to a share of 40th.
