Casey Jarvis made an eagle on the ninth on Sunday on his way to a closing four-under-par 68 in the final round of the DP World Tour’s Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship at the Royal Golf Club in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
It was the second 68 of the week for Jarvis, and it lifted him into a share of 21st at nine-under-par for the tournament. It was his best finish since the opening tournament of the new Race to Dubai season after he shared 11th in the Alfred Dunhill Championship at Leopard Creek on home soil.
He was just five strokes out of the three-way play-off between Pablo Larrazabal of Spain, England’s Laurie Canter and another Englishman, Daniel Brown. Canter won on the first extra hole with a birdie on the 18th, while the other two made bogey.
Jarvis made eagle after a drive on 18 found the right rough, but his approach soared 186 yards to the green and he was left with a putt of inside 12 feet, which he made. He also made four birdies and two bogeys.
Next best of the South Africans was Jacques Kruyswijk, who slipped to a closing 74. He finished the week at five-under in a share of 38th with Deon Germishuys, who signed off with a two-under-par 70.
George Coetzee was a further shot back in a share of 49th after his final round of one-under-par 71, and Louis de Jager had a one-over 73 to finish on level-par in a share of 64th.
