Stacy Bregman turned in a strong finish on Saturday to lift herself into a share of 12th at the conclusion of the Ladies European Tour’s Jabra Ladies Open at Evian Resort Golf Club in France.
Bregman made six birdies and just two bogeys on her way to a four-under-par 67 as she finished the 54-hole tournament on level-par. She was 10 strokes behind the winner, Morgane Metraux of Switzerland. Metraux was able to coast home with a one-over-par 72 for a three-stroke edge over runners-up Chiara Tamburlini of Switzerland and Agathe Sauzon of France.
Bregman fought well throughout the tournament after opening with a four-over-par 75. She followed it with a level-par 71 before her fine concluding round of 67. It was her best finish in four starts so far this season on the tour, and it projects her to 90th place on the Order of Merit.
“It’s pretty overwhelming right now,” said Metraux of her win. “I went through all the emotions today on the course, from having really bad shots, and being in bad positions, to making a few in a row to come back. It feels very surreal and it couldn’t have happened in a better place.
“This is a dream come true,” said the 27-year-old, who is now qualified to play in the next European major, the Amundi Evian Championship, taking place at the same venue in six weeks’ time.
