Dylan Frittelli carded a level-par 70 on Friday in the second round of the PGA Tour’s Honda Classic in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, and that put him just outside the top 10 in a share of 12th going into the weekend.

Frittelli made two birdies and two bogeys to stay at two-under-par for the tournament, eight shots off the lead which was held by Daniel Berger of the United States after a second successive five-under-par 65. Berger led by three from countrymen Chris Kirk and Kurt Kitayama.

Frittelli slipped two places down the leaderboard with his level-par, and the next-best South African was Garrick Higgo in a share of 31st after a second-round two-over 72. He was on level-par for the tournament, the same total as Louis Oosthuizen, who matched Berger’s 65 with his five-under. The South African number one had seven birdies and a double-bogey on his card, with the double coming on his second hole of the day, the 11th.

Christiaan Bezuidenhout was also on level-par going into the weekend after a one-over 71 in the second round.

Dawie van der Walt and Charl Schwartzel both missed the cut, while South African-turned-Slovak Rory Sabbatini was on one-under after a four-over 74 left him in a share of 22nd.

Elsewhere, Retief Goosen carded an opening two-under-par in the first round of the PGA Tour Champions event, the Cologuard Classic in Tucson, Arizona. That put him four shots behind the leaders Jeff Sluman and Miguel Angel Jimenez. David Frost was on one-under, and Ernie Els on two-over.
