Nicole Garcia saved her best for the final round on Saturday as she carded a five-under-par 66 to climb into a share of 14th in the Ladies European Tour’s Lacoste Ladies French Open at Golf Barriere in Deauville.

Garcia made seven birdies and two bogeys to add to her opening round of one-under 70 and second round of two-over-par 73 to move to four-under-par for the tournament. That put her 12 shots behind the winner, Johanna Gustavsson of Sweden. Gustavsson took her maiden LET title with a closing 65 t beat fellow-Swede Moa Folke by three strokes. Megan McLaren of England was third on 12-under-par.

Garcia opened her final round with a bogey on the first, but she was then flawless all the way to the 15th, where she dropped her second shot. But she had made six of her birdies in that stretch, including three in a row from the fifth. She picked up her final birdie on the 16th.

One shot behind Garcia, in a share of 18th, Stacy Bregman rounded out a pleasingly solid week with her third consecutive one-under-par 70. She made four birdies through 10 holes, but dropped shots on the 11th, 12th and 18th coming home.

Casandra Alexander battled her way to a two-over-par 73 in the final round, and, at three-over for the tournament, was in a share of 55th.
