The Sunshine Tour pulled the plug on Wednesday on the Hyundai Invitational Driven by the Palisade which was to get underway this week at Royal Johannesburg and Kensington’s East Course.

With the Gauteng area hit by heavy rains throughout Monday and Tuesday, as well as continuing through Wednesday, the course was waterlogged, and organisers were not going to be able to get to it ready for play ahead of Thursday’s tee-off, and probably not even by Friday. With more rain forecast over the weekend, as well as thunderstorms, it was deemed unlikely that play would have been possible.

It’s a blow for the players in the field, especially many of those who had hoped to use it to get some tournament-play tuning up done ahead of next week’s Investec South African Open Championship.
