While Deon Germishuys didn’t have the tournament he wanted in the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final supported by the R&A at Club de Golf Alcanada in Port d’Alcúdia, Mallorca, he achieved his main aim which was to earn his DP World Tour card for 2025.

Germishuys closed with a one-over-par 73 in the final round on Sunday, and that gave him 44th place in the 46-man field, he finished 15th on the Road to Mallorca rankings, and the top 20 on that list all gained promotion to the DP World Tour.

In fact, with two players – Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen of Denmark and John Parry of England – gaining automatic promotion to the top flight by virtue of winning three titles each during the season, the players in positions 21 and 22 also gained their cards.

Joining Germishuys as one of the players who step up was Robin Williams, who finished 14th on the list despite not even playing in the Grand Final.

Kristoffer Reitan of Norway held his nerve to win the Grand Final, while Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen topped the Road to Mallorca rankings.

Unfortunately for the other South Africans who played in the final event, their performances weren’t enough to earn them promotion. Wilco Nienaber finished the week on one-under after a closing level-par 72 left him in a share of 42nd. That saw him drop four places to 29th on the Road to Mallorca. Justin Walters climbed six places into 41st on the rankings after his closing four-under-par 68 took him into a share of ninth on 13-under-par.

Rhys Enoch of Wales and Benjamin Follett-Smith of Zimbabwe, both regulars on the Sunshine Tour, finished the Grand Final in 34th and 39th respectively, and both missed out on promotion.
