Deon Germishuys made two eagles early on in his round on Sunday as he carded a five-under-par 66 in the final round of the Challenge Tour’s Challenge de Cadiz at Iberostar Real Golf Novo Sancti Petri in Cadiz, Spain.
Those eagles came on the second and the fourth after he had opened with a bogey on the first. He also made three birdies in four holes on the homeward nine, but he dropped a shot on the 17th as he finished in a share of third on 12-under-par.
The tournament was won by Denmark’s Jonathan Gøth-Rasmussen, who carded a closing three-under-par 69 to move to 15-under. That gave him a one-stroke edge over runner-up Gary Hurley of Ireland, who had the joint best round of the final day with his six-under 66. Germishuys shared third with Christofer Rahm of Sweden.
Wilco Nienaber, who had a wonderful eight-under 64 in the third round, failed to capitalise on those efforts, and signed off with a one-over 73 with three birdies and four bogeys to finish on seven-under in a share of 17th.
Justin Walters closed with a four-under 68 to move to six-under for the tournament and a share of 26th, while Robin Williams had a one-under 71 to finish in a share of 33rd on five-under. Dylan Mostert had a 68 on Sunday to finish three-under in a share of 43rd and Oliver Bekker closed with a disappointing two-over-par 73 to finish 50th on two-under-par.
Albert Venter slumped to a seven-over 79 in the final round, and finished in a share of 74th on 11-over-par.
