Deon Germishuys had an eventful homeward nine on Saturday as he signed for a four-under-par 68 in the third round of the Challenge Tour’s Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge in France.
After making pars all the way through the front nine, he made an eagle, four birdies and two bogeys on the homeward nine, and he climbed to seven-under for the tournament to be in a share of 10th heading into the final round.
He was six shots off the lead which was held, as it was after 36 holes, by England’s Nathan Kimsey. At 13-under, Kimsey has a one-shot lead over Mikael Lundberg of Sweden and Robin Sciot-Siegrist, with Clement Sordet of France and Englishman Matthew Baldwin in a share of fourth on 11-under.
Germishuys shared 10th with five other players. He started his run on the back nine of the Golf PGA France du Vaudreuil course with a birdie on the 10th, and he followed that with the first of only two pars he made on that homeward stretch. He made eagle on the par-five 12th, and then came the second of his pars. On his way in, he made bogey, birdie, birdie, bogey and birdie.
Jayden Schaper, who had been in good shape for the first two rounds, slipped to a six-over 78 in the third round, and slid to a share of 58th on one-over.
