While weather issues continued to plague the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship on Friday, Retief Goosen managed to get his second round done with a two-over 72.
Three birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey saw him to a 36-hole total of one-over-par. That put him in a share of 12th place, eight shots behind Canada’s Mike Weir. The left-handed Masters champion from 2003 had rounds of 68 and 65 to his name, and a four-stroke edge over Americans Rocco Mediate, Steve Stricker and John Riegger, together with Germany’s Alex Cejka.
Ernie Els was on three-over for the tournament in a share of 24th after improving to level-par in his second round. Chris Williams looked likely to miss the cut after a six-over 76 saw him reach halfway at nine-over, and David Frost will certainly not play on the weekend after he backed up his opening 80 with a five-over 75.
