Retief Goosen closed the PGA Tour Champions’ Simmons Bank Championship at Pleasant Valley Country Club in Little Rock, Arkansas with a one-under-par 71 on Sunday to finish in a share of 13th.

Goosen opened and closed his final round with bogeys on one and 18, and had another drop on the sixth. But he made four birdies to finish on seven-under-par for the tournament. That put him 13 strokes behind the runaway winner, Steven Alker of New Zealand. Alker got to 20-under-par with his closing three-under-par 69 to win by seven from Richard Green of Australia and American Tag Ridings.

Goosen slipped five places on the leaderboard with his final round, and also dropped one spot to eighth on the season-long Charles Schwab Cup rankings.

Ernie Els closed with a level-par 72 to finish in a share of 23rd. That saw his slip of fourth on the Charles Schwab Cup list.
