Cara Gorlei just missed out on a top-10 finish on Sunday when she carded a final round of one-under-par 72 in the Ladies European Tour’s Magical Kenya Open at Vipingo Ridge.
It was a tough weekend for the LET rookie who was playing in her first tournament as a full member since earning her playing privileges at Lalla Aicha Q-School in December. She led at the halfway mark, but slipped to a four-over 77 to put her eight off the lead.
But in a final-round performance which must have been encouraging, she made four birdies and three bogeys to finish on two-under. That was 10 behind the winner, Shannon Tan of Singapore, but Gorlei managed to pull things back in that final round after missing fairways and greens in four of her five opening holes.
Gorlei shared 11th place with her much more experienced compatriot, Lee-Anne Pace. Pace closed with a five-under-par 68, including an eagle and three pars in a bogey-free effort.
Nicole Garcia rounded out her week’s work with a level-par 73 to finish in a share of 46th on six-over.
