Grace 3rd in LIV Golf opener in Mexico

Branden Grace made five birdies and a bogey on Sunday to finish third in the season-opening LIV Golf Mayakoba in Mexico.

Grace’s 66 took him to 10-under for the tournament, six strokes behind the winner Charles Howell III of the United States. Howell closed with an eight-under 63 to take him to 16-under, four shots clear of runner-up Peter Uihlein, who had an eagle and a double-bogey in his closing 68.

Dean Burmester finished in 21st with a closing one-under-par 70 to reach one-under for the 54-hole tournament. Charl Schwartzel had a two-under 69, and, at four-over, was 31st. Louis Oosthuizen closed with a five-over 76, and was in 42nd in the 48-man field.

The South African team, Stinger GC, finished just outside the money in the team contest, in fourth on seven-under. The winner was Crushers GC, with Howell, Paul Casey, Bryson DeChambeau and Anirban Lahiri, on 26-under.
