Hayden Griffiths went bogey-free in the opening round on Thursday of the Bushveld Tour’s two-day event at Ebotse Links to hold a share of the lead.

He made four birdies on his way to a four-under-par 68, and he joined Christiaan Burke at the top of the leaderboard. Burke made six birdies, but dropped two shots on his way to his share of the lead. The pair had a one-stroke edge over Aubrey Beckley. Bradley Diggeden, Jason Roets and Peetie van der Merwe were in a share of fourth on two under, heading into Friday’s final round.

Michael Kok and Ryan Estment were the other two players who carded under-par rounds with their 71s.
