Garrick Higgo made five birdies and two bogeys on Friday in the second round of the PGA Tour’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am as his three-under 68 took him to a share of 11th at the halfway stage of the tournament played over three courses.
Higgo’s round was played on the Monterey Peninsula course, after his first round on Spyglass Hill. His third round, ahead of the cut, will be played on Pebble Beach. At six-under for the tournament after 36 holes, he was three shots off the lead which was held by Kurt Kitayama of the United States. Kitayama led by one from Keith Mitchell, Brandon Wu, Joseph Bramlett and Hank Lebioda.
Higgo shared 11th with 10 other players, including Justin Rose who had a hole-in-one on the 15th.
Dean Burmester also had a three-under 68 at Monterey Peninsula, and he also made five birdies and three bogeys as he moved to five-under for the tournament and a share of 22nd.
All the South Africans in the field played on the same course for the second round, and MJ Daffue had a one-over 72 to slip to two-under at the halfway mark and a share of 50th. Erik van Rooyen had a three-under 68 and climbed 49 places into a share of 93rd, leaving himself some work to do to make the cut. Dylan Frittelli carded a five-over 76 and slid to 11-over for the tournament and a share of 151st.
