Garrick Higgo just missed out on a top-10 finish on Monday as the PGA Tour’s Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches drew to a weather-delayed finish.
His closing three-under-par 68, which included an eagle, five birdies and two double-bogeys, saw him drop five places on the final leaderboard as he finished in a share of 16th at 11-under-par for the tournament. One shot better, and he would have been in a share of ninth.
In the end, Austin Eckroat round off his closing round in four-under-par 67, which took him to 17-under-par and a three-stroke win over Erik van Rooyen and Min Woo Lee of Australia.
Van Rooyen’s performance saw him jump 23 places on the FedExCup rankings to 19th and it assured him of a place in this week’s Signature Event on the tour, the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Higgo also had a substantial jump on the FedExCup rankings as he climbed 40 places to 111th. He won’t be at Bay Hill, however, and will have to take his improved form as he continues a return from his wrist injury to Puerto Rico.
