Garrick Higgo stayed right in the thick of things on Friday with a second-round five-under-par 66 in the PGA Tour’s John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois putting him a share of second heading into the weekend.

In contrast to his opening round of 65 which was bogey-free with six birdies, he started his second on the 10th with an eagle, and finished it off with a bogey on the ninth. In between, there were five birdies and another bogey as he moved to 11-under. That was two behind the lead which was held by Cameron Young of the United States, who had a 64 on his way to 13-under through 36 holes.

In a share of second with Higgo were Americans Adam Schenk and Brendon Todd. There were four players in a share of fifth, one shot behind the group in second on 10-under, including the young Swedish star recently turned pro, Ludvig Aberg.

MJ Daffue had his second-successive three-under-par 68 in his second round, and he moved to six-under for the tournament and a share of 29th.

Christiaan Bezuidenhout had a two-under 69 to move to two-under for the tournament. Unfortunately, that wasn’t good enough to make the cut. Dylan Frittelli and Erik van Rooyen were on level-par after rounds of level-par 71 and one-over 72 respectively.
