It was a bogey-free start on Wednesday for Garrick Higgo in the first round of the PGA Tour’s Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines in San Diego, California as he carded a six-under-par 66.

Playing on the North Course – the players play around on each of the South Course and the North Course ahead of the cut and the weekend which will play out on the South Course – Higgo made birdies on four and five, before making an eagle-three on the ninth. He made two more birdies coming home, on the 11th and the 17th.

He was two shots off the lead which was shared by Sam Ryder and Brent Grant of the United States, and Aaron Rai of England. All three of the leaders played on the North Course. They led by one from American Brendan Steele, who carded his 65 on the North Course. Six-under was the leading score from the South Course, shared by US players Sam Stevens and Andrew Novak.

Also laying the North Course for his first round, MJ Daffue had a three-under 69 for a share of 33rd, while Dylan Frittelli’s 70 on the South Course put him in a share of 50th. Dean Burmester had a 71 on the South Course for a share of 71st.
