Higgo opens with solid 2-under 68 in Texas Children’s Houston Open

Garrick Higgo had a solid enough start on Thursday with a two-under-par 68 as he returned to play in the first round of the Texas Children’s Houston Open at Memorial Park Golf Course in Houston, Texas.

Higgo, who has been battling the effects of a wrist injury, started his round on the 10th hole, and made two birdies and a bogey on his front nine. He picked up another shot on the eighth on his homeward nine, and that put him in a share of 17th place.

He was four strokes behind the lead which was shared at six-under by Wilson Furr and Taylor Moore of the United States. World number one Scottie Scheffler was one of three players on shot back on five-under-par in a share of third after he carded his 27th consecutive under-par round.

Dawie van der Walt was the other South African in the field, and he carded a six-over-par 76 to be in a share of 139th place in the 144-man field.
