Christiaan Bezuidenhout went bogey-free on Friday to climb into contention in the PGA Tour’s WM Phoenix Open in Scottsdale, Arizona with his five-under-par 66 lifting him into a share of fourth.
Bezuidenhout made three birdies and an eagle-two on the 17th as he moved to nine-under-par at the halfway mark of the tournament. He was just three strokes off the lead which was held at 12-under by Thomas Detry of Belgium. His seven-under 64 put him two clear of Alex Smalley and Michael Kim of the United States.
Bezuidenhout holed a 315-yard approach shot on the 17th to leap into contention.
Erik van Rooyen and Thriston Lawrence both missed the cut.
