Michael Hollick earned himself a multi-win bonus on the latest Official World Golf Ranking list issued this week as he took his second Sunshine Tour title of 2025 with his victory in the FNB Eswatini Challenge.
Hollick’s triumph at the weekend brought him 4.31952 world ranking points, and, because he won in March too, he earned an extra 2.59171 points as he rocketed 205 places on the official rankings to 376th. And, from being well outside South Africa’s official top 25, he finds himself the country’s 18th-best player.
The massive jump for Hollick was one of two eye-catching climbs by South Africans on the rankings: The other came from Christo Lamprecht who took his maiden professional victory with a spectacular hole-out bunker shot on the final hole of the Korn Ferry Tour’s Pinnacle Bank Championship.
That saw him up 118 places on the official list to 145th place. It not only made him South Africa’s sixth-best player on that list, but it has also all but assured him of a spot on the PGA Tour next year. It is a cherry on top of a year of grinding on the Korn Ferry Tour which has seen him rise 321 places on the rankings since the beginning of the year.
Two players who benefited from strong performance on the DP World Tour were Casey Jarvis and Ryan van Velzen, who were up to 386th and 439th respectively. It was a 17-place climb for Jarvis who came 13th in the Nexo Championship in Scotland, and Van Velzen was up 20 places for his 19th place.
South Africa’s top player remains Aldrich Potgieter, who slipped out of the top 50 in the FedExCup rankings on the PGA Tour at the weekend, so his season there is now at an end. He was down four places to 62nd.
