Keith Horne was in a share of third on Friday after his opening round of five-under-par 68 in the Legends Tour’s Grass & Co. English Legends at Brocket Hall in England.
It was a bogey-free start to the tournament for Horne, who made three bogeys on the front nine, and then was unable to pick up any more shots until he made two birdies in a row on the final two holes.
Horne, who is currently third on the Order of Merit, shared third with Englishmen Steve Webster and Peter Baker. The lead was held by Scotland’s Scott Drummond, who fired a fine seven-under-par 66 to lead by one from Swede Joakim Haeggman.
Adilson Da Silva, who won the Order of Merit last year, was two strokes behind Horne on three-under-par 70, while James Kingston battled to an eight-over-par 81.
The Order of Merit leader, Scott Hend of Australia, was down in a share of 40th on two-over-par.
